CoronaVirus is ripping apart the economy and normal livelihood of millions across the globe. Hugely populous India is beginning to face the brunt of Level 2 and 3 transmission of the virus in the country. Anand Mahindra Expresses Concern Over Surge in cases Over the Last 3 Days

India is anxiously waiting to showcase its preparedness for Stage 3 which involves community transmission. The total number of cases is surging ahead and the last two days added 40% of the total cases in India.

People skipping quarantine and escaping home quarantine is a cause of concern. Lack of responsibility shown by celebrities like Kanika Kapoor is also adding stress to the fragile healthcare ecosystem in India.

Several positive cases including the one in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal have no foreign travel history. The state governments are isolating aggressively but are stuck at tracing the source.

Anand Mahindra tweeted,

“Going by various reports from epidemiologists, it is highly likely that India is already in Stage 3 of transmission.”

Anand Mahindra feels that cases could rise exponentially with millions of casualties, putting a huge strain on medical infrastructure.

Anand Mahindra Recommends Lockdown

A lockdown over the next few weeks will help flatten the curve & moderate the peak pressure on medical care. —However, we need to create scores of temporary hospitals & we have a scarcity of ventilators.

Anand Mahindra also offers some of his assets to fight this cause!

—To help in the response to this unprecedented threat, we at the Mahindra Group will immediately begin work on how our manufacturing facilities can make ventilators. —At Mahindra Holidays, we stand ready to offer our resorts as temporary care facilities.

—Our Projects team stands ready to assist the Govt/Army in erecting temporary care facilities.

—The Mahindra Foundation will create a fund to assist the hardest hit in our value chain (small businesses & the self employed)

—We will encourage associates to voluntarily contribute to the Fund. I will contribute 100% of my salary to it & will add more over the next few months. I urge all our various businesses to also set aside contributions for those who are the hardest hit in their ecosystems
