CoronaVirus is ripping apart the economy and normal livelihood of millions across the globe. Hugely populous India is beginning to face the brunt of Level 2 and 3 transmission of the virus in the country. There has been a significant surge in the total count which mounts to 2311, including 69 deaths. The major regions affected are Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Delhi NCR Region and Rajasthan.
As the results of the lockdown began to show, the spread of coronavirus cases was clamped to a considerably manageable number with no major community spread. Most of the new cases were with known travel history or contacts of already positive patients.
However, the spurt in the number of cases converting from the Nizamuddin Markaz event in Delhi is sending jitters across the country. Tamil Nadu has seen the biggest increase of more than 50 cases in a day from patients who visited the event which was an illegally conducted event.

Phoenix Mall Chennai has come under scanner as two of the employees of the mall has tested positive for Coronavirus. A 28 year old man, a 25 year old woman and another person working in the Phoenix Mall is confirmed to be Corona.The exact store details in which these employees worked is not revealed but they were contracted with Coronavirus from a person from Kerala who visited the store and who tested positive for the virus.
As a result, a general advisory for people who visited Phoenix Mall Chennai between 10th to 17th March 2020 can call the helpline numbers if they are experiencing symptoms like cough, sore throat, fever or shortness of breath. If not, please isolate yourselves if you’ve visited Phoenix Market City during this period.
Similarly, a visitor to the Visa Application Center in Nungambakkam, Chennai has been affected. Following this, the Corporation of Chennai has asked those who visited the center on March 15 to isolate themselves at home.
