CoronaVirus is ripping apart the economy and normal livelihood of millions across the globe. Hugely populous India is beginning to face the brunt of Level 2 and 3 transmission of the virus in the country. There has been a significant surge in the total count which mounts to 6825, including 229 deaths. The major regions affected are Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi NCR Region and Rajasthan.

While the state governments brace for the worst, the Government of Karnataka has taken some proactive measures like shutting down malls, theaters, mass gathering events, weddings and schools. This order came into effect from the 15th of March 2020. In addition to the 21 day lockdown which ends on the 14th of April, the State Government is likely to take proactive measures in affected hotspots across the state

According to reports, there has been information on certain social media channels like Twitter and Whatsapp about potential sealing off of critical areas in Bengaluru where coronavirus positive patients visited or resided.
The following Areas in Bangalore are on high alert:

  • JP Nagar
  • Koramangala
  • Indiranagar
  • White field
  • Electronic city
  • Hoodi
  • Sanjay nagar
  • Bangalore kote
  • RT Nagar

While there is no official information on any of the BBMP or Government’s social media handles, the spread of this information has created panic across the residential localities of Bengaluru.

As normal life seems to be affected, there are reports of widespread crowding in supermarkets as people are bracing for a potential seal off. While the source of this information is unknown, The News Crunch advises its readers to maintain calmness and the government official information can only be trusted at this juncture.

However, it is unclear if the lockdown will be fully lifted in Bangalore after April 14th

Total Coronavirus Cases In Karnataka & Bangalore

The total cases in Karnataka is increasing at a normal rate and is currently at 197 which includes 30 recovered patients and 6 deaths.

The total tally of coronavirus positive patients in Bengaluru (Urban and Rural) stands at 67 as of 1400 Hrs IST.
