Government of Tamil Nadu have increased the Special Ticket for Athi Varadhar Darshan counts to two thousand from thousand numbers. Special Tickets are priced at Rs. 300 issued everyday at 11:00am. These tickets are for darshan from 6pm to 9:30pm daily. The new Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu K.Shanmugam have made a press release on Athi Varadar darshan and it was mainly focused on Devotees safety.

New Battery cars and share autos will be arranged to transport Physically Challenged and Senior Citizens to their respective darshan queues, to improve sanitation more sanitary employees are assigned for the garbages and toilets to be cleaned on hourly basis. Also devotees slippers were a huge issue as the exit is on the other side of the temple and devotees had to walk for 3 kilometres without slippers. Hence they are paining roads with heat absorbing white paints so that devotees can walk without slippers from their respective vehicles. Also 1500 wheel chairs are provided for the aged and physically challenged for darshan, previously there were 800 wheel chairs. Free food distribution for devotees will also be started shortly by volunteers and separate office will be established to take care of these operations. You can check our Athi Varadhar crowd status page to know about estimated time to your darshan.

  1. […] Athi Varadar Darshan Changes announced by Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu Athi Varadar Special Darshan tickets were introduced by Government of Tamil Nadu and TNHRCE last week to ease the crowd and the total ticket counts were 500 previously and now they have been increased to 1000 per day. This is a happy news for many devotees who are trying hard to book tickets online and we have received hundreds of comments about it. Also the server has been upgraded to cater better service for devotees booking tickets online. Also the online booking timing have been changed to 10:00 am from previous 11:00am. So for those booking online make sure to start your booking at 10:00 am instead of 11:00 am to avoid disappointment of running out of tickets. New arrangements are made for physically challenged people with separate queue setup for them to speed up their darshan, entrance from east Mada Veedhi. Also crowds are split into batches right from the place where the queue starts. Each batch is then sent into the queuing area to avoid congestion. Though it increases the time spent on the queuing area but avoids congestion and stampede. For those planning to visit Kancheepuram on Weekends plan for evening as crowd seems to be less during evenings compared to mornings. […]

  2. Hello All,

I have been trying to book online tickets from last 2 days and seems its NOT possible. I observe that once the details are filled and submitted, I receive an Error saying server is busy please try after some time. The pain area is again I need to fill all the details before I re-submit . I have tried this with different Browsers and the issue remains the same….
Keen to understand how others are able to book as I see ticket counts are decreasing …. 🙂

    • @Sheshadri, The ticketing system is not as robust as IRCTC or TTDseva, so it has to be tried again. No other way.

    • @Narasimhan unfortunately you cannot, you either have to go for free darshan or vip pass (with some mla recommendation) or contact some donors for donor pass.
