The world renowned giraffe April gave birth to her fifth calf at 12:42 p.m. on Saturday.
The labor for April took place in Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, New York. The video of the labour was live streamed on Social media. The hoof emerged from April at 11:15 a.m.
An hour before labour, Animal Adventure Park sent out a message which alerted the fans of April regarding her labor. “The Animal Adventure Giraffe Team will send out a text notification, immediately after confirming April is in labor!” said the newsletter on the park’s official website.
Scores of April’s fans waited anxiously to have a look at April’s bouncing baby.
How Did April Gain Fame?
In 2017, April became a social media sensation as her fans waited for a long time to watch the reticulated giraffe give birth to Tajiri, her son.
This video was viewed by 1.2 million people and almost 800,000 people watch the Facebook Live video feed.
The name for her son was a consequence of an online contest for two weeks. Tajiri means hope and confidence in Swahili.
Tajiri now has a new female companion whose name is Johari , which means Jewel in Swahili.
A new naming contest will kick start soon for April’s new baby as well.
